Water and the Interlake are tied historically since the water provided a route for the early settlers, fur traders & the fishing industry. Lake Winnipeg, as the largest fresh water lake in Southern Canada & 10th largest in the world is highlighted by its many sandy beaches at the south end and rocky, rugged shorelines along the Hecla / Grindstone area.
Experience life on these prairie waterways as you sail out of a marina along the shoreline of Lake Winnipeg & reflect on a sunset across the vast expanse of water to relax at the end of long day. The yacht club in Gimli is enjoyed by many avid sailors, especially on Wednesday evening sails from mid June to mid August.
Take a quiet paddle in a canoe or kayak on one of the tiny lakes or rivers found in the northern part of the region. Perhaps a pontoon boat ride with room for family and friends to enjoy a cruise along Lake Manitoba suits your lifestyle better or take a smaller boat out for a fishing trip on one of our many lakes. Pontoon cruises are available from some of the lodges along the shoreline.
From sailing to catamarans, pontoon to a fishing boat there is always a way to enjoy the abundance of experiences you can find here.
