RM of Coldwell



An hours drive northwest of Winnipeg on Hwy#6 will get you to the RM of Coldwell. The communities you will visit in this municipality are Lundar and Clarkleigh. Lundar was once known as the Swan Lake settlement, founded in 1887. Orginally settled by many first & second generation Icelanders that moved from the Hecla/ Gimli area, it is now home to a mix of all nationalities.

This area is well known internationally for its wildlife management areas including marsh bird nesting and refuge areas.

The Communities in Bloom makes Lundar a beautiful place to live or visit. A great place to live, to play or to retire.


Unique attractions in the area:

Lundar Goose Statue- You will find the largest goose in Manitoba in the park on the side of Hwy #6 at the entrance to Lundar. Created by one of the ancestors of the orginal settlers to this area.
Lundar Museum- Consists of a caboose, old school house, church, railway station this museum tells the history of the pioneers of this area.

Recreation & Community places:

“All Canadian Goose Shoot”- Held annually in October, this event draws hunters from Western Canada and the United States.
Lundar Agricultural Fair- Held in June the fair allows for the local 4-H clubs to hold their Achievement and cattle auction. The Miss Interlake pageant is an annual event at the fair.
Lundar Farmers Market – Stop by for some fresh vegetables, homebaking, produce and crafts any Friday during the summer.
Lundar Golf & Country Club- This public 18 hole golfcourse is just the right spot for a time out from work, a great way to relax and improve your game. Stop by the club house after you finish a round.
Lundar Provincial Recreation Park – Just west of Lundar, you will find spectacular beaches, boat launching and secluded campsites at this park. Intrepretive walking paths are now open at the Interlake Marsh.
Lundar Recreation Centre- Artificial ice surfaces in both the local arena for skating, hockey & ringette with a number of sheets at the curling rink to keep the winter fun activities enjoyable.
Royal Canadian Legion hall-Provides catering and banquet facilities year round.

Summer activities include public swimming and lessons at the outdoor Junior Olympic pool. Baseball and water sports in the area during the summer.

Winter activities include snowmobiling, cross country skiing and ice fishing around the area on Lake Manitoba.
