RM of Armstrong



Found in the heart of the Interlake region of Manitoba, northwest of Teulon on Hwy #17, the RM of Armstrong is home to a number of small hamlets- Inwood, Narcisse, Silver, Meleb, Malonton, Chatfield and Fraserwood, offering a mix of urban and quiet country lifestyles. A rich ethnic mix of Ukrainian, Polish, Swedish, German, Norwegian, French, Icelandic and British settlers provide these communities with a vibrant history.


Unique attractions in the area:

Narcisse Snake Dens features the largest concentration of Red- Sided Garter Snakes in the world. Scientists and visitors from around the world follow the life cycles of these snakes and many come yearly to study.
Meleb-Park-Cumming Park at Meleb is home to the Mushroom Statue and World War II Memorial.
S-s-Sam & S-s-Sara Snake Statue resides in the Inwood park next to the Interlake Pioneer Trail.

Chatfield Museum offers a pool hall, barber shop, Hankie House, church, school, giving visitors a peek into a small town community from an earlier time.
Bender Hamlet (near Narcisse) has been erected to commemorate and pay tribute to the early Jewish settlers.

Recreation & Community places:

Inwood Golf Course & Country Club
provides a golfers challenge. In the heart of the Interlake you will find this 18-hole golf course.
Interlake Pioneer Trail provides an excellent hiking/ biking, horse back riding trail in spring to fall and is groomed for snowmobiling during the winter. No motorized traffic allowed other than snowmobiles.

Community Halls at Chatfield, Silver,Polson, Inwood, Fraserwood and Zbruch, provide recreation for the public in the form of bingos, fall suppers and dances.
