Situated 140 Kilometers north of Winnipeg on Highway #8, you will find a small jewel in the picturesque Interlake region- our Village of Riverton. Predominantly a fishing, farming and construction community of 547, Riverton is known for its warm culture, friendliness and generousity. Serving as the Gateway to Hecla and Grindstone Provincial Parks, taking a scenic drive may find rare birds and an abundance of wildlife. If you are a hunter or a fisher, Riverton is the home of many outfitters. Riverton, "A river runs through it", takes advantage of our Icelandic river for fishing, boating or sea-dooing. In winter, we are a destination for snowmobilers and part of the Manitoba groomed trail system. In any season, our motto..." Come Play with Us!" Unique attractions to the area: Icelandic River Walking Bridge- The present bridge is the 4th walking bridge built since 1892 to provide access to both sides of Riverton and it continues to provide a wonderful pathway for evening strolls across the Icelandic River. Riverton Centennial Outdoor Stage- Found in the park next to the Icelandic River in memory of Sigurdur Victor Sigurdson, 1st Mayor of Riverton and former RM of Bifrost councillor. Riverton Transportation and Heritage Museum- Refurbished railroad station brought to life to celebrate the Riverton transportation history by rail, boat and road. The station will house the history of the area, the tales of many of the settlers and their families, the making of a new life in a new land by many cultures. Soon to be the home of the "Goldfield", the grounds are home to the largest Moose in the Interlake. Recreation and Community Places: Riverton Recreation Complex- A first class facility used for wedding & social receptions with a capacity of 525 people, it is also home to the four (4) sheets of the Riverton Curling Club and the meeting rooms of the Riverton Elks Lodge #530. Golf Courses- Situated between Hecla Golf Course on Hecla Island and the Northernaire Golf & Country Club off Highway #8.
