The Rural Municipality of Bifrost Located in Manitoba's Interlake Region, the R.M. of Bifrost includes the small communities of Morweena, Vidir and Hnausa. The Town of Arborg & the Village of Riverton also lie within the boundaries of the Rural Municipality of Bifrost.
In the summer, the attractions are the sandy beaches. The rivers, marshes and creeks are great for fishing in the summer & hunting in the winter. In the winter, there are many activities to choose from, like snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing and snowshoeing.
Hnausa is a small community located along the west shores of Lake Winnipeg. The Hnausa Provincial Park has playground equipment, camping facilities and is located along the beach.
Unique Attractions: Arborg & District Multicultural Heritage Village-located east of Arborg on Hwy 68, this multicultural Heritage Park has a campsite area beside their village. There are washroom facilities and picnic tables on the grounds. With 5 older homes, [Ukrainian, Icelandic, Polish] & the St. Nicholas Parish hall that is available for rent this village is growing. The Bjarmi church, Poplarheights School, Hykaway gristmill and the Ukrainian pioneer museum artifacts are also housed here. A caboose, Ukrainian bake oven, Aboriginal encampment & more, with the newest building being added-an Interpretive Centre and gift shop.
Betsy Ramsay Gravesite- located in the Sandy Bar area, it is a municipal heritage site honouring John and Betsy Ramsay, for their help with the early settlers in the area.
Historical Site Monument, located east of Arborg on Hwy 68, honours Johann Magnus Bjarnason, noted pioneer, author, poet and teacher, who exemplified his countrymen's high regard for culture and literacy which helped them to endure and overcome the hardships of pioneer life.
Recreation & Community places: Arborg Aquatic Park -opened in 2009 and features water slides, spray park and an Olympic size swimming pool. "Lundi" Moose- is a statue of Manitoba's largest moose recently erected on the grounds of the Riverton Transportation & Heritage Center. The Town of Arborg and the Village of Riverton offer baseball diamonds, playground, parks, hockey arenas and curling rinks.
